Participation in Merrell shoe testing, community runs, Run All In All Down activities and any other sporting or recreational activity organized or proposed by Merrell in connection with the UTMB event (the “Activities”) is voluntary and undertaken at the participant’s own risk.

By participating in an Activity, each participant acknowledges and accepts that trail running, running and outdoor sporting activities inherently involve risks, including, without limitation:

  • falls, slips, trips and collisions;

  • uneven, rocky, steep, slippery or otherwise difficult terrain;

  • changes in weather and environmental conditions;

  • physical exertion, fatigue, dehydration or loss of balance;

  • collisions with other participants, pedestrians, cyclists or vehicles;

  • traffic and road-related risks;

  • injuries to muscles, joints, bones or other parts of the body;

  • illness, medical complications or other adverse physical conditions;

  • loss, theft or damage to personal belongings or equipment; and

  • any other risks inherent to or reasonably associated with running, trail running and outdoor sporting activities.

Participants confirm that they are physically and medically fit to participate in the relevant Activity and that they will immediately inform the Merrell team or event staff if they feel unwell, injured, unable to continue or otherwise unable to safely participate.

Participants agree to follow all safety instructions, directions and recommendations provided by Merrell, the event organizers, guides, coaches and/or other members of the organizing team.

Participants are solely responsible for their personal belongings and equipment brought to or used during the Activities. Merrell shall not be responsible for any loss, theft, disappearance or damage to personal belongings or equipment, except where such liability cannot legally be excluded.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, each participant acknowledges and agrees that Merrell, its affiliates, employees, officers, directors, agents, representatives and event partners shall not be held liable for any accident, injury, illness, loss, theft, damage or other harm arising out of or in connection with the participant’s voluntary participation in an Activity, except to the extent such liability results from a circumstance for which Merrell cannot legally exclude or limit its liability.

Participants acknowledge that Merrell does not provide medical supervision or medical care during the Activities. Participants are responsible for assessing their own ability to participate and for stopping their participation whenever they consider it necessary for safety or health reasons.

Merrell reserves the right to refuse or terminate a participant’s participation in an Activity at any time if it reasonably considers that the participant is unfit, behaving unsafely, failing to comply with instructions or posing a risk to themselves or others.

5. Winner Selection

The Contest includes two separate Fastest Segment Record challenges during the Contest Period.

For each challenge:

  • one (1) male participant who records the fastest valid time on the dedicated Strava segment during the applicable challenge period will be selected as the Men’s Record Winner; and

Only times recorded during the applicable challenge period will be eligible. Participants must comply with all applicable Strava rules and the rules communicated by Merrell for the dedicated segment. Sponsor reserves the right to verify any recorded time and to disqualify any time that appears to have been obtained through an invalid, fraudulent or unauthorized method.

In addition, one (1) winner will be selected by random draw on Friday, August 28, 2026, from among all eligible participants who have entered the Contest during the Contest Period.

The random draw will be conducted by Sponsor or by a third party designated by Sponsor.

A participant may win both a Record Prize and the prize awarded through the final random draw, provided that they otherwise meet all eligibility requirements.

Winners will be contacted using the contact details provided at the time of entry. If a selected winner cannot be contacted, does not respond within the period specified by Sponsor, is found to be ineligible or otherwise fails to comply with these Official Rules, Sponsor may select an alternate winner, where applicable.

6. Prize

The prizes awarded to the winners will be specified by Sponsor and communicated to participants at the Merrell booth and/or through the Contest communication materials.

There will be four (4) Record Prizes awarded to the fastest male and female participants during the two Record challenges, and one (1) prize awarded to the winner of the final random draw.
